The D'Addario EJ10 is an 80/20 Bronze Extra Light acoustic guitar string set — providing the lowest tension in D'Addario's 80/20 bronze acoustic range for maximum playing ease, ideal for vintage instruments, smaller-bodied acoustics, and players who want the crisp, bright tone of 80/20 bronze with the lightest possible feel. 80/20 Bronze is the original acoustic string alloy, introduced by John D'Addario Sr. and John D'Angelico in the 1930s, prized for its crisp, projecting tone and favoured by recording engineers, traditionalists, and vintage enthusiasts. Made in the USA.

80/20 Bronze — The Original Acoustic Alloy

80/20 bronze (80% copper, 20% zinc) is the original acoustic guitar string alloy — introduced by John D'Addario Sr. and John D'Angelico in the 1930s and still the choice of players who want the brightest, most sparkling acoustic tone available. 80/20 bronze produces a crisp, bold, projecting tone with a bright top end that cuts through clearly in a mix — making it a popular choice for recording, where its clarity and definition translate well to microphone and direct recording. Note that 80/20 bronze tends to lose its brightness faster than phosphor bronze as the alloy oxidises — players who want longer string life in the same Extra Light gauge should consider the phosphor bronze EJ15.

Extra Light Gauge — Lower Tension for Vintage Instruments & Playability

The Extra Light 10–47 gauge is the lightest gauge in D'Addario's 80/20 bronze acoustic range — offering the lowest tension for the easiest possible playing experience on acoustic guitar. Extra light strings are particularly well-suited to vintage acoustic guitars and parlour guitars where lighter string tension reduces stress on the top and bracing, players transitioning from electric to acoustic who find standard acoustic gauges too stiff, beginners building finger strength and calluses, and players with smaller hands or hand/wrist issues.
